Governors: Stop Slashing Public Media Funding

Enlarge Map

Around the country, states are slashing budgets for local NPR and PBS stations. Live in New Jersey? Your public media stations have lost $5,900,000 in state funding. South Carolina? Over $12 million. In Florida, $7,800,000 has been cut. The list goes on and on.

We’re targeting the nine states that have been hit with the most extreme cuts — Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Virginia — and asking people to tell their governors to stop slashing this funding.

Do you live in one of these states? Please tell your governor that we need to increase funding to public media in the next state budget.

Governors Bentley (AL), Brownback (KS), Christie (NJ), Corbett (PA), Daniels (IN), Haley (SC), Lynch (NH), McDonnell (VA), Scott (FL):

Public broadcasting is a vital source of local news and information in Virginia. With drastic cuts to NPR and PBS looming in Congress, it’s more important than ever to maintain or increase our state’s support for local public media.

Please reverse recent cuts and stand up for public media in the next Virginia budget.
