Don’t Let the IRS Block Nonprofit News

The Internal Revenue Service is debating whether journalism organizations should be eligible for nonprofit status. Dozens of nonprofit journalism outlets have been waiting for months or even years for the IRS to weigh in on their applications for nonprofit status. The agency’s outdated policies could undermine the growth of new forms of nonprofit media and potentially threaten the survival of even longstanding nonprofit news organizations.

We need to show the IRS that Americans support nonprofit journalism. If you believe that journalism is a public good, don’t allow the IRS to stand in the way of nonprofit news.
