Congress: Hold Murdoch Accountable

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. has been implicated in the bribery of foreign law enforcement officials, the hacking of Sept. 11 victims’ phone lines, the cover-up of a corporate hacking scandal and other offenses here in the U.S.

Hundreds of thousands have called on Congress to investigate. But the person in charge of launching an inquiry, Rep. Darrell Issa of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, went on Fox News Channel to say that he plans to do nothing.

Murdoch is not above the law. We need to place him and his colleagues under the lights and before the cameras in Congress.

Take action now. Sign this letter urging Rep. Issa to hold Murdoch’s News Corp. accountable.

Dear Chairman Issa,

Rupert Murdoch and other News Corp. executives are at the center of a shocking media scandal involving allegations of spying, bribery, hacking, corruption and a corporate cover-up.

This includes reports that company representatives tried to pay a New York City police officer to hack into the phone messages of Sept. 11 victims and their families.

News Corp. is an American company and should be held accountable to American laws. Given the seriousness of these allegations, please respond to the repeated calls for action and promptly launch a Committee on Oversight and Government Reform investigation into News Corp.'s activities in the U.S.
